Contributing to Sustainable Development; Davivienda’s Permanent Commitment

At Davivienda, all actions are geared towards achieving our higher purpose of “Enriching life with integrity”.  We strive every day to deliver prosperity, wellbeing and happiness to people, businesses, and communities. We build upon our comprehensive internal management, which is founded on team participation, technical knowledge and analysis of best practices to achieve results. The talent of more than 17,000 employees translates into a constant passion for generating value in a sustainable manner for all our stakeholders.

We further strengthen our Sustainable Finance by integrating ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria, just as we have enhanced our green finance lines portfolio and the investment alternatives we offer our clients, which are the core of our mission. As a result, we contribute to social progress and the conservation of the planet we share, contributing and adding value on the following fronts:

Green Building

As a financing leader in the construction sector, we support our clients in the development of projects with green building certification. As part of our strategy, we promote green building among our clients and we leverage our operations to constantly promote investments and practices to mitigate our carbon footprint. That is why we also built sustainable infrastructure, some of which is already environmentally certified.

Eco-efficiency

The purpose of our eco-efficiency strategy is to efficiently use natural resources and contribute to climate change mitigation through programs and initiatives that embed a culture of efficiency and the use of technological solutions across the organization.

Thus, in 2020 we installed a total of 14 solar panels: 9 in our branches in Colombia and 5 in El Salvador, with a total installed capacity of 430.48 kWp. In Colombia, we invested COP 13,337 million in technologies to achieve greater energy and water efficiency, and to expand our use of renewable energies. In Central America, we invested USD 269 000, off-setting 2,729 tons of CO2, equivalent to 35% of our annual carbon footprint and planting approximately 21,650 trees. We participated in biodiversity conservation projects in Costa Rica and El Salvador.

All of Grupo Bolivar’s EDGE-certified buildings (including its own constructed and financed buildings) save 673 million 2.5-liter bottles of water annually, the equivalent of filling 670 Olympic-size swimming pools. Similarly, the amount of energy saved by these buildings is equivalent to the energy used by 4,224 homes each year or the equivalent of replacing 1.2 million incandescent light bulbs with our LED alternatives.

In addition to this, the tons of carbon emissions averted by the Bolivar Group’s EDGE-certified green buildings (including those constructed and those financed) amount to 35,784 tons of CO2, the equivalent of taking 7,731 cars out of traffic. Likewise, the amount of energy saved by these buildings is equivalent to the energy used annually by 4,208 homes.

We have financed 349 EDGE-certified individual housing units, amounting to 40,464 million COP, in addition to 28 EDGE-certified construction projects amounting to 453,079 million COP. The types of projects we have financed include: hospitals, shopping centers, hotels and housing units (as of February 2021).
